The One World Nature Conservation Alliance (OWNCA) today joined a multi-stakeholder consultation convened by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning (MoFNP) and the Department of Forestry at the Lusaka Forestry Department in Woodlands.
The consultation forms part of preparations for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) project titled "Catalyzing a Climate Risk Protection Shield for Zambian Smallholders."
As an invited stakeholder, OWNCA contributed to discussions on strengthening Zambia's indigenous tree seed supply chain, scaling up agroforestry for smallholder farmers, and enhancing climate resilience across rural communities.
Key Focus Areas
Key areas of focus during the visit included:
- Observing nursery operations and reviewing quality assurance and traceability systems for indigenous seeds.
- Exploring pathways to expand agroforestry adoption through reliable seedling access, farmer training, and market integration.
- Clarifying stakeholder roles and coordination mechanisms to ensure transparency, sustainability, and strong monitoring and evaluation safeguards.
